How to Import Images on Desygner

Images are a key part of any design and being able to import your own is critical. There are two ways to import images on Desygner. The method you choose depends on the project you’re working on and if you want continued access to your image in the future.

If you only plan to use your image for your current project, drag and drop it into the Add section of the Images menu in the project you’re working on. If you want continued access to your image, upload it to the Images section of your Assets menu. This will save the image for future use.

If you read my review of Desygner, you know I think it’s an awesome design program. One thing that makes it awesome is the way it handles imported photos.

When you upload an image to a specific project, it can only be accessed within that project. It won’t appear in your other projects for you to use.

When you upload an image to the Assets section of your Desygner account, it can be accessed for any and all future projects.

So, before you choose an upload method, decide whether the image you’re using is only applicable to the one project you’re currently working on, or if you’ll want continued access to it for your future work.

Let’s dive into both methods. Firstly, let’s talk about uploading photos for a one-time project you’re working on.

Desygner’s import features can be accessed with any plan you have, both free and paid, so these methods will apply regardless of the Desygner plan you have.

How to Import Images into a Single Project on Desygner

To import images into a specific project on Desygner, click on the “Images” button in the menu bar on the left-hand side. Next, click on the “Add” button that appears at the top of the Images menu. Lastly, drag and drop your images into the import area.

Here’s how to do that, step-by-step:

1. Open the project you’re working on and want to add an image to

2. On the left-hand side, click on the “Images” button within the menu of options

6. To add your images to your design, simply click anywhere on the image, or click the + icon in the top left corner of the image.

8. To delete your image, click on the trash can icon in the top right corner of your image.

Remember: this image can only be used for the project you uploaded it to. It can’t be accessed anywhere else in any other project.

This method is a great way to upload images on a per-project basis without cluttering up your collection with photos you won’t need later. If you know you won’t need your image for any other project, this is the way you’ll want to go.

It’s actually really cool that Desygner has this option. The key though, is remembering to use the option we’ll talk about next if, in fact, you do want to permanently add your images to your collection.

How to Permanently Upload Images to Your Collection in Desygner

To permanently upload images to your collection in Desygner, click on the “Assets” button in the top menu bar. Next, click on the “Images” button in the menu bar on the left-hand side and then the “Upload” button in the right corner of your screen. Lastly, drag your images into the upload box.

Here’s how to do that, step-by-step:

1. Click on the “Assets” button in the top menu bar

These images are now a permanent part of your images collection within Desygner.

Important note: your uploaded images will be mixed in with any stock images you’ve added to your collection. They aren’t separated.

Ok, so now that we’ve added images to our collection, how do we access them for our projects? Here’s how to do that:

1. Open a project

2. On the left-hand side, click on the “Images” button within the menu of options

5. To add the image as the background of your design, click on the icon that shows a collection of squares to the right of the + button

Important note: if you want to delete your image, you can’t do that within a project. You’ll need to go back to your “Assets” section and click on the three vertical dots in the bottom right corner of the image you want to delete.

Click on the delete button from the menu of options that appears and that image will be deleted from your collection. Simple as that!

This method of importing images is a great way to have access to any images that you may want to use for multiple projects.
