Being able to create gold, silver, and metallic colors in Procreate is a neat way to create unique effects with your art. There are a lot of color palettes that can help, but that’s not the whole story. Unlike other Procreate color palettes, gold, silver, and metallic color palettes need to be used in specific ways to work correctly.
The colors in gold, silver, and metallic Procreate color palettes are used together to create gradients that achieve the gold, silver, and metallic effects you’re looking for. There are no stand alone colors that can appear shiny and metallic without combining multiple colors within a gradient.
This is REALLY important, so don’t skip through this. The metallic color palettes we’re going to talk about below do NOT function like regular color palettes.
Traditionally, we’re used to installing Procreate color palettes and being able to use the colors “right out of the box.” The colors are the colors, right? Well, metallic color palettes do NOT work this way.
When you install metallic color palettes in Procreate, you may be surprised that they look dull and nothing like you expected. This is because it’s tricky to create standalone Procreate brushes that can replicate a metallic effect.

There is one option on this list that gets close, but to create the most realistic gold, silver, and metallic effects possible, you’ll want to use a color palette to create a gradient effect that works for your design.
How do you do that? You’ll need to use your colors together to create gradients. These gradients can be adjusted to make the metallic effects you’re looking for.
Watch the tutorial below for instructions on how to create gradients:
As you can see, creating your own gradients can give you the most realistic metallic effects. It can also give you more control over how your metallic colors function in your piece of art.
Alright, now that we’ve reviewed the unique way that metallic Procreate color palettes work, let’s dive into the options. Again, you’ll want to use the gradient technique in conjunction with these palettes to get the metallic effects you’re looking for.
If you’re not sure what to do with the color palettes you find here, don’t worry. I have a full guide on creating Procreate color palettes that includes instructions for importing any pre-created palettes.
